Before contacting support
Most questions about downloads, copyright claims, external podcast apps, and recitation categories are answered below.
Re-uploading on third-party platforms Link
If you re-upload audio to another platform and receive a copyright claim or strike, that decision is made by the platform and/or the copyright owner. Muslim Central and Quran Central cannot grant permission on behalf of speakers, reciters, or rights holders.
What happens when I download audio? Link
Downloads are for offline listening inside the official app or web platform. Audio is not exported to your device file system, cannot be transferred to other apps, and must not be redistributed.
Why are some external podcast apps not supported? Link
Official platforms help us keep content accurate, current, and responsibly managed. Some third-party platforms make that difficult.
Why is certain audio not available on Spotify? Link
Spotify appears to remove some audio through its automated systems, which may incorrectly classify Qur'an-related content as music or flag it for similar reasons. This has been an ongoing issue, and repeated attempts to resolve it have not led anywhere. If something is missing on Spotify, please use our web app or other official platforms instead.
Can I reupload or redistribute your audio? Link
No. Audio remains the property of the original speakers or reciters. Personal listening is allowed; reuploading and redistribution are not.
Why might content change or be removed? Link
Content may change due to speaker or reciter requests, rights issues, quality corrections, or project curation decisions.
Are AI transcripts always accurate? Link
No. AI-generated text can contain errors and should not be treated as a perfect source.
Are donations tax-deductible, and do you accept Zakat? Link
Receipts are issued by payment processors. Donations are generally not tax-deductible internationally, and in South Africa we are not a Section 18A organization. We accept Zakah, Sadaqah, and Lillah, but not Zakatul Fitr or Fidyah.
How are speakers selected and removed? Link
Inclusion is based on listener benefit, audio clarity, availability of complete public recordings, long-term maintainability, and alignment with project objectives. Inclusion does not imply endorsement of every view, and removal does not imply wrongdoing.
Why are you streaming-first? Link
Our platforms are for listening, not file distribution. Streaming helps us correct errors, respond to rights-holder requests, maintain a reliable library, and sustain a free, ad-free platform.
Do you earn income from external podcast platforms? Link
Muslim Central does not earn income from external podcast platforms. Some third-party services may insert advertisements or charge users. Muslim Central itself remains free and ad-free.
Why do you limit non-English podcasts? Link
Muslim Central has had very negative experiences in this area in the past. Hosting non-English podcasts is not simply a matter of adding more content. It requires reliable vetting, trusted language-specific reviewers, ongoing support, and consistent long-term monitoring. Unless we can maintain that properly, we prefer to keep the scope limited rather than host content we cannot review responsibly.
How are you funded? Link
We are sustained through micro-donations, mainly in South African Rand, YouTube ad revenue, and occasional support from larger donors.
Can you provide reciter contact details? Link
We cannot provide personal contact details. Please check their official websites or verified social profiles.
Can you help with personal or family questions? Link
Not directly. Muslim Central is a content platform, not a personal counseling or fatwa service. If you need guidance on family, parenting, marriage, or other personal matters, please speak to a trusted local imam, scholar, counselor, or community elder who can understand your situation properly and advise you responsibly.
What if I think a recitation contains an incorrect pronunciation? Link
Please review the support guidance before emailing us. Listeners sometimes hear a different riwayah or simply misunderstand what was recited, so reports should include clear evidence and, where possible, confirmation from a qualified reciter or teacher.
Why is the kasra sometimes below the shadda and sometimes below the letter? Link
This is a matter of typesetting and font design, not a change in pronunciation.
Some Qur'an fonts place the kasra directly below the shadda so the marks stay visually compact and avoid collisions with nearby signs.
Other fonts keep the kasra below the base letter, which is a more literal placement for a kasra. Both are read exactly the same way.
What is the difference between Tarteel and Mujawwad? Link
Tarteel refers to reciting the Qur'an slowly, clearly, and correctly while observing Tajwid. It is best for learning, memorization, and reflection.
Mujawwad is a more ornamented and melodic style. Tajwid rules are still observed, but the delivery places more emphasis on vocal artistry and formal public recitation.
